
Prime Minister The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, S.C., M.P., has announced changes to her Cabinet, introducing adjustments to key ministerial portfolios to enhance the Government’s focus on national priorities.
Following a request from The Honourable Corey Layne to step down from his position for personal reasons, effective February 26, 2025, the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs will now oversee Crime Prevention.
The Honourable Kay McConney has been appointed Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment.
Additionally, Senator The Honourable Chad Blackman will now lead the Ministry of Educational Transformation, while Sandra Husbands will assume the role of Minister of Training and Tertiary Education.
The Honourable Marsha Caddle also requested to be relieved of her duties, citing differences in principles. Jonathan Reid, formerly Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, has been named Minister of Innovation, Industry, Science and Technology.
To facilitate this appointment, Dr. Crystal Haynes has stepped down from her role as Senator.
Prime Minister Mottley expressed confidence in the new appointees, highlighting the critical role these ministries play in Barbados’ development.
