The Honourable Kerrie D. Symmonds, M.P., is a Barbadian lawyer, politician, and Senior Minister in the Government of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley. He represents St. James Central and currently serves as Minister of Energy, Business Development and Commerce, and Senior Minister coordinating the Productive Sector.
A graduate of the University of the West Indies with a BSc in Law and Arts, Minister Symmonds brings decades of legislative and diplomatic experience to his role, having previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
In his current portfolio, he oversees energy security and Barbados’ transition to renewables, microenterprise and cooperative development, utilities regulation, and private sector enhancement – making him one of the most consequential voices shaping the island’s economic future.
