We're excited to see the Barbados BLOOM Clean Tech Cluster presented as a role model, with the potential to be scaled up as a global programme.
BLOOM is the first cleantech cluster within the Caribbean Community. Its aim is to promote cleantech entrepreneurship and commercialization of new cleantech innovations.
The BLOOM achievements were presented by the Barbadian delegation in the context of the 5th Steering Committee of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GN-SEC), convened by UNIDO between the 5th and 8th September at the Vienna International Centre. The cluster in Barbados is an important pilot for the wider BLOOM Regional Cluster Program to be rolled out by UNIDO under the GN-SEC in various middle and lower-income countries over the next years.
Export Barbados - BIDC, UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the International Business Unit, and the Clean Tech Cluster Barbados (BLOOM) are jointly implementing the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project: strategic platform to promote sustainable energy technology innovation, industrial development and entrepreneurship in Barbados.
Business Barbados has been following this programme closely, and we featured this story in our 2022 edition.
