History was made on 19 April 2013 when David Venus, President of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the Associated Territories (UKRIAT) at the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) visited Bridgetown, Barbados, for the first time to meet ICSA members. Barbados is an associated territory of the ICSA and is home to over 110 of the Institute’s members.
Mr. Venus hosted a reception in Bridgetown, taking the opportunity to update ICSA members on the Institute’s plans to revise its current structure. Discussions focused on the proposed changes and the significance for members in Barbados and the wider Caribbean region.
During his visit, Mr. Venus met representatives of the Financial Services Commission, the securities, insurance and private pensions regulator.
David Venus, ICSA President of UKRIAT, said “Today’s visit reflects the Institute’s commitment to our dynamic member base in the Caribbean region. We value our members’ contribution to debates because their feedback enables us to continue supporting the business community globally and position ourselves at the forefront of the corporate governance agenda.”
Connie Smith, Managing Director of Tricor Caribbean, a Fellow of the ICSA, said “We are delighted David came to visit us and listen to our views. We look forward to the future opening of an ICSA branch in Barbados.”
