Deloitte BIMVIM 2014Six teams of local film-makers met the Deloitte 48 Hour Film Challenge this weekend by working with set criteria to create films within the stringent time-frame.

The Challenge was one of the exciting events during the 2014 Barbados Visual Media Festival (BIMVIM), a celebration of film and video in Barbados with four distinct components – Film Challenge; Film Screenings; Workshops and Industry Awards.

In explaining Deloitte’s support, Renatta Mohammed the firm’s Senior Manager of Marketing said that Deloitte plays a leading advisory role in the media and entertainment arena. “Globally, our clients include the top organizations in this sector, from cable and satellite operators to entertainment and media companies, interactive gaming, internet firms, publishers, music companies and advertisers,” she explained.

Lynette Eastmond, President of the local Film Association and Lead for the Festival, was open with her praise for Deloitte as the Challenge’s sole sponsor and the participants for their time and talent management.

The entries included ‘My Dad’ by Jason Carmichael and Kathy-Ann Murphy of Vizionari; ‘Crossroads’ by Damien Pinder and Clish Gittens of IBC Productions; ‘The Operation’ by Ezra Hinds Of Blink; ‘A Time for Change’ by Lia Gajadhar of Soul Rebels; ‘The Fallen’ by Stockton Miller of S.A Miller Films and ‘The Showdown’ by Vonley Smith of Team 8.

The submissions will be judged this week and all shown at Plae, Ocean Park, from 7pm this Friday.
