Barbadian Darren Ellis is the new General Manager of Regus Barbados, replacing Stuart May, who is now Regional Operations Manager for the company.
Regus, the leading global provider of flexible office spaces, offers a range of workspace solutions including offices, meeting rooms, co-working facilities, a global business lounge network and virtual offices.
Educated at the Christ Church Foundation School in Barbados, Ellis has returned home after living and working for more than 20 years in Britain and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the job, having served in a number of similar positions, including the most recent as Head of Business Development, Property Services for the Millbrook Group.
Before that he held several senior management positions with various organisations including the Jampur Group (a conglomerate out of Dubai) and UK serviced office providers Abbey Business Centres, MWB Business Exchange and MLS Business Centres.
No stranger to the Regus model, Ellis also served as a General Manager for Regus in the UK where he oversaw the management of multiple business centres. He notes, “Having dedicated 15-years of my professional career to the development of the British service office industry, I am proud to be in a position now to make a valuable contribution to the growth of Regus in Barbados and across the Caribbean, establishing the brand as a household name and offering flexible products and services that enhance the way how modern businesses work.”
Mark Linehan, Managing Director of the Regus franchise in the Caribbean, welcomed Ellis back to Barbados. He said, “I am delighted to welcome Darren to Regus Barbados. Darren’s intimate knowledge of Regus and his many years of experience working in the serviced office industry will ensure an even better experience for our clients and will help us further develop Regus not only in Barbados but across the Caribbean.”
Regus’ worldwide network features nearly 3,000 locations in 900 cities across 120 countries. Adding Barbados to this global network easy given the island’s vibrant business community. The unique mix of businesses operating in Barbados, from home-grown entrepreneurs to start-ups and from regional and international businesses to off-shore companies twinned with Barbados’ developed infrastructure made it the ideal location for Regus’s flagship centre in the Caribbean. Regus’ next business centre in the region will be opening in Trinidad in early 2017.
