As the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) continues to enhance and streamline their life insurance operations, they recently announced the promotion of Mrs. Sharon Howell Clarke and Mrs. Pamela Lowe as well as the appointment of Mr. Tyrone Lowe and Mrs. Sylvia Yearwood.
As the newly appointed Assistant General Manager, Operations – Life Division, Mrs. Sharon Howell Clarke has played a leading role in the development of ICBL’s Life, Health and Pensions portfolios in her 25 years with the organisation. In this new role her focus will be on management of New Business, Inforce Services, Underwriting, Claims and Customer Service / Experiences for all lines within the Life Division.
Mrs. Howell Clarke has a MBA from the University of Durham, UK and earned a Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK. She also has a BA from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
Mrs. Pamela Lowe has been promoted to Manager – Life Division and brings to her new role over 27 years’ experience in Life Insurance Claims and Underwriting. Mrs. Lowe, who has previously worked with a US based Insurance firm, will now be responsible for the efficient operations of the department and the supervision of all new business and claims employees in ICBL’s Life Division.
A Master Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI/M), Associate Life and Health Claims (ALHC), Associate Customer Service (ACS), Health Insurance Associate (HIA), Mrs. Lowe recently became a, Fellow of the Academy of Underwriting (FALU), which she gained in April 2010.
Mr. Tyrone Lowe has had a long and successful career in Life Insurance as an Underwriter and an Administrator. He is a Past President of the Barbados Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (BARAIFA) and currently serves as its Treasurer. He has also served as a Director of the Caribbean Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (CARAIFA). With his appointment to Assistant General Manager, Sales Development, Mr. Lowe will head the Life Division with his main objective being the growth in sales for all lines within the division. Recruitment and training will also be within his portfolio.
Mr. Lowe is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); Certified Financial Counsellor (ChFC); Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and a Fellow of Life Underwriters Association Training Course (LUTCF) of the American College. He completed the Agency Management Training Course (AMTC); and holds a Certificate in Mutual Funds from BCC.
With 20 years’ experience in the Life Insurance industry, Mrs. Sylvia B. Yearwood’s new appointment as Sales Manager – Life Division will allow her to do what she loves – bringing financial peace of mind to ICBL’s customers. Mrs. Yearwood’s responsibilities will include the recruitment and training of Insurance Advisors / Agents to ensure the maximum levels of productivity are met.
A LUTC Fellow, Mrs Yearwood also holds a Certificate of Proficiency from the Insurance Institute of Barbados Inc. and has a Financial Service Specialist designation from the American College.
In making the announcement Ingrid Innes, ICBL’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, explained the promotions were part of the organisation’s strategic plan to continue to aggressively grow its Life Insurance portfolio. She explained,
“Our team demonstrates a strong mix of technical and practical Life Insurance experience and this will give us an edge in this highly competitive market.”
