There are many things that can go wrong during the lead up to, and the day of your wedding, but now thanks to CGM Gallagher and Massy United Insurance, couples can rest assured that any unforeseen circumstances will not have a lasting impact on them financially.
The leading regional broker and insurance company have combined to offer a wedding insurance package, which can be purchased by couples to cover any out of pocket expenses in the event that something goes wrong in preparation for that special day, or on the day itself.
The details of the policy were revealed on Friday, May 4th, where the two companies enacted a wedding ceremony at Fairmont Royal Pavilion to give wedding planners, services providers and other partners an explanation of how the coverage work.
The policy covers cancellation or rearrangement, due to adverse weather conditions, death, injury or sickness to any member of the wedding party; wedding rings, whether lost or damaged; ceremonial attire, such as the accidental loss of or damage to dresses, suits, wedding flowers or cake; wedding gifts, including loss by accident, fire, or theft; wedding photography and video, in the event of non-appearance of a professional photographer at the wedding or reception; wedding cars & transportation; for irrecoverable deposits and additional costs paid if the provider fails to cover its obligations; and most importantly, public liability, for third party injury or third party property damage directly related to the wedding or wedding reception.
Managing director of CGM Gallagher insurance brokers for barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Scott Stollmeyer, stated that wedding insurance is nothing new globally, and indeed it is somewhat available to weddings in the Caribbean.
“Historically it has been very difficult and expensive to obtain, and you would have to go through an overseas broker or insurance provider. However, through the longstanding and important partnership we have with Massy United Insurance we are very excited to be at the forefront of this groundbreaking product.”
Stollmeyer indicated that the package will first be offered to the Barbados wedding market, with plans to roll out eventually throughout the other islands in the Caribbean where CGM Gallagher operates.
