Underscoring the importance of the international business sector to Barbados, the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA), Invest Barbados, and their strategic partners will host their annual International Business Week Conference on October 9 -10 at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Needhams Point, St Michael, Barbados.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Bridging the Americas: Barbados…Your Gateway”. The focus on the Latin American market is reflective of their vision for a strong mutually beneficial relationship with this region. The Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, the Hon. Donville Inniss will deliver the Welcome Address.
The programme’s format has been tailored to encourage active audience participation and a cross-fertilization of ideas. It will include presentations from several Latin American participants such as Mauricio Cano del Valle, Brook & Cano, Mexico; Luis Laguerre, KPMG Panama and Mauricio Zagarra, Norton Rose Fulbright, Colombia to name a few.
Topics to be addressed include: Barbados as a Bridge between North and South; Understanding Tax regimes in Barbados and Latin America: Differences and Opportunities; Colombia- Gateway to the Pacific Coast Countries and the Andean Pact; Doing Business with Latin America- What you Need to Know.
Among other things, this event is expected to provide a unique opportunity to network and to learn first-hand about the business and regulatory environment in Latin American territories. It will also serve as a forum for the sharing of ideas and the exploration of potential partnerships as it seeks to “build a bridge” between Barbados and the Americas.
