Barbados will host its’ first entrepreneurship unconference this November as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. This is according to event organisers of ‘treppinOut:Unconference.’

treppinOut:UnConference is aimed at a wide cross section of the entrepreneurial community, from aspiring to start up and seasoned entrepreneurs. The one-day 4-hour event is designed with the goal of fostering networking and creative thought surrounding entrepreneurship. The event will be held on Saturday, November 17th 2012 at The Cavehill School of Business Inc. spanning the period 1pm to 5pm. This date allows treppinOut:UnConference to be established as a major component of the development of ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week’ in Barbados.

Speaking about the concept of the unconference, Event Uncoordinator Corey McClean explains, “an unconference is a participant driven, free‐form conference. The major difference is that there are no designated speakers or panel of experts. Any participant can initiate and lead a discussion on a topic of which they have some expertise. This learning approach has been growing in popularity within the technology and creative sectors throughout the United States and Europe over the past few years.”

treppinOut is a collaboration of entrepreneurs who intend to create a sustained environment for entrepreneurs to learn, share and grow. The concept ‘trep’ has evolved as a label for the modern entrepreneur who is trendy, tech savvy and innovative.
