As of March 2010, the estimated labour force in Barbados stood at 143,300 persons comprising 74,300 males and 69,000 females, with an estimated participant rate of 60.1%. Results from the Labour Force Survey for the first quarter of 2010 indicate that the employed labour force totaled 128,300 persons. Some major industries for employment included Wholesale & Retail Trade (19%), Construction, Mining and Quarrying (12.9%), Accommodation and Food Services (12.9%) and Manufacturing (10%). Distribution of the labour force by occupation is illustrated in the chart below.
