In 1988, the historic ‘Crane Beach Hotel’ stood as a charmingly rustic, albeit tiny, 18-room hotel overlooking the most beautiful beach Canadian investor, Paul Doyle, had ever seen. Some 26 years later, Crane Beach remains as beautiful as it ever was, now rivalled only by the magnificence of the 252-room Crane Residential Resort. Doyle’s very hands-on management style, considerable investment and careful expansion agenda has transformed The Crane into one of the most luxurious and successful shared ownership developments in the world. Armed with this success, Doyle has set his sights on a new, very exclusive development on Barbados’ East Coast – Beach Houses.

Paul Doyle, Owner and Managing Director, Crane Resorts:

‘It seems to me that the most powerful way that an investor can demonstrate confidence in Barbados is by investing more. We are now very excited about our new project on a magnificent site, sloping gently to the sea at Skeete’s Bay, the only parcel of land available for development on the East Coast, just outside Barbados’ National Park. The Crane has always appealed to those who want to get away from it all and our new development Beach Houses was conceptualised and designed for those who really want to get away – offering that ‘Grenadines’ type of seclusion right here in Barbados.

The other difference between Beach Houses and The Crane lies in the architecture. While The Crane is traditional and colonial, Beach Houses boasts a very contemporary, clean and environmentally sensitive design. The development will be extremely low density with only 62 freestanding ‘beach houses’ and a small boutique hotel comprising of 27 residential style accommodations, over a 50-acre site.

Two- and three-bedroom ‘beach houses’ will each sit on approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of land and command 180° of breathtaking ocean views. Each residence features floor-to-ceiling glass windows for spectacular ocean views, 2 infinity edge private pools with hot tubs (one 37 ft. wide for the main residence and the other 19 ft. wide for the “lock off” studio), private patios offering a “no tan-lines” level of privacy, outdoor showers, hammocks, BBQ grills and built-in owner’s storage. On completion, Beach Houses will feature 2 fine dining restaurants, a bar and a state-of-the-art wellness centre – all featuring extraordinary panoramic ocean views. The resort will also feature a convenience store and full-service day spa.

Beach Houses will afford the same whole and fractional ownership options as The Crane, complete with the attendant flexibility and security. Owners (including Whole Owners) receive unprecedented benefits, including a rental pool option that has been profitable for all owners every year; turn-key services that cover everything (including property taxes, all utilities, interior maintenance, daily maid service and replacement of furniture, fixtures and utensils etc.) and all the amenities and services of a 5-star resort.

With the recent completion of Beach Houses’ model home, we are excited about being part of Barbados’ development landscape for many more years to come.’
