Paul Worrell, IAM Jet Centre
Paul Worrell, Managing Director
We are a homegrown Barbadian company and the IAM Jet Centre at Grantley Adams International Airport is the centre piece of our Caribbean business. In addition to Barbados, we also have IAM Jet Centres in Jamaica and Grenada, with a fourth facility to soon be launched in Tortola, BVI. Over the years we have established an extensive network throughout the region and today we have a presence at twenty-four different airports, where we employ our own people or work with trusted representatives. We are also represented around the world at many of the major international airports.
The growth of our company has been driven by the strength of our reputation amongst our clients, so we typically do not promote our brand outside of the global business aviation community. People might suggest that our company is ‘the best kept secret in Barbados’ but the reality is that our company is now 24 years old, the facility has been in operation since 2004, and we are well-known and highly regarded all around the world within the business aviation community. Our company is also one of the leading suppliers of jet fuel in the Caribbean.
The core of our business is providing high-end services to visiting private and business jet travellers, essentially guaranteeing that anybody who passes through our facility will experience the ultimate in absolute convenience. We provide a very secure, very private, very comfortable, totally stress free gateway for high net worth individuals, business leaders and diplomats to enter and leave Barbados. Nobody is exempted from any of the standard security, immigration and customs requirements, but we manage them on behalf of our guests in a very efficient and sophisticated manner, which removes all of the usual hassle and wasted time often associated with international travel. Our staff are there to ensure a smooth experience. Check-in time can be reduced literally to a few minutes before departure.
Since private jet travellers are often the same people who would travel first class on British Airways between Barbados and London when they are not using their own plane, the IAM Jet Centre also hosts those passengers instead of them having to go to the main airport. We are the only location in the entire British Airways global network that provides that level of service.
The IAM Jet Centres operate on a very confidential basis and we focus entirely on satisfying the particular demands of our clients and making sure that they are happy. Everything is built upon good relationships, so we look after people in a very personal manner. Our staff members know all of our guests and their pilots by name and are fully aware of their individual tastes and preferences. In fact, we operate the centre just like a 5-star boutique hotel; the only difference is nobody sleeps here. Other than that, we maintain the exact same mindset in that we are a very elegant, very private location that is committed to offering our guests the very best creature comforts.
Our IAM Jet Centres offer private conference rooms that are fully equipped for meetings, enabling International business companies to conduct transactions or hold their AGM in Barbados without leaving the facility. They fly in; meet with local representatives, accountants, lawyers and so on; complete their business; have lunch and then fly back home in time for dinner.
Private jets regularly stop off here just to refuel en route between the US and South America and Southern Africa. Those passengers usually get off the plane to stretch their legs and they can pop inside to freshen up or even take a shower if they wish. We have witnessed many examples where our clients or their guests have so enjoyed their experience with us that they make a point of coming back to Barbados for a vacation with their families. We are all very proud of that.
